Abstract: Leasing is a new area of business operations in Russia. Therefore, amongst practitioners there are some misunderstandings concerning the interpretation of such operations. The reasons for these misunderstandings have both juridical and economic substance. Some problems on the matter are discusscd in the paper. The main the scs proclaimed in the paper are as follows: firstly, lease should be considered not as an independent element of the civil legislation but as a part of business activity; secondly, a lease agreement actually is a combination of several contracts between the counterparts of a certain lease transaction.
