Abstract:
The paper deals with comparative analysis of small business development with large and medium enterprises in the modern Russia. In particular, it is shown that the regional dynamics of small industrial enterprises was in half determined by the same factors as the development of industry in whole. Among the specific factors, the following should be distinguished income level and population structure by sex, age, nationality and density. It is also shown that in the period of 1991-2000, trends of emerging of small and other enterprises were in most similar. This is a sign that in the above period, compensatory function of small enterprises was insufficient. The authors calculated a ratio between number of employees leaving large and medium enterprises and growth of number of employees at small enterprises.
