Abstract: Investment activities of insurance companies, structure of assets, forming of reserves are studied. The paper explores globalexperience of insurance companies in financing development of new products, training of personnel, etc. A list of causes that retard development of innovative and investment activities of insurance companies is made up and a set of measures to boost them in Ukraine is considered.
