Financial institutions and credit exposure in the context of the global financial crisis

Abstract: The paper examines the channels of spreading the global financial crisis into financial system of Ukraine. Based on comparative study of CEE countries it evaluates the role of external and internal factors in enabling the expansion of the crisis. The paper also points out bank runs and incomplete regulatory framework as amplification mechanisms for the downside risks.
