Abstract: Investment activities of insurance companies, structure of assets, forming of reserves are studied. The paper explores global experience of insurance companies in financing development of new products, training of personnel, etc. A list of causes that retard development of innovative and investment activities of insurance companies is made up and a set of measures to boost them in Ukraine is considered.
