Abstract: The author examines the background for the development of quality problems in higher education, analyses the concepts of higher education, quality of educational activity, quality management in higher education, the quality of higher education. The article shows the interrelation between such categories as quality of education, quality of specialist training, quality of instruction and quality of educational services. The author also examines various trends in the quality evaluation of higher education.
