Abstract: The article examines the transformation of the concept of competitive strength of national economics and the changing approach to the definition of the factors which shape the national competitive edge. The author analyses the competitive strength of Russia according to the index of competitive growth, calculated at the International Economic Forum, as well as the tools used for state regulation of the national competitive edge.
