Abstract: Задача статьи – проверить, опираясь на теоретическое представление о механизме мотивации труда и современные эмпирические данные, различаются ли мотивы труда в сфере науки у разных групп молодежи, велика ли доля тех, кто фактически не ориентирован на научную или инновационную деятельность, влияет ли мотивация научного труда на его результативность. В качестве информационной базы в основном использовались данные всероссийского опроса научной молодежи 2003–2004 гг., проведенного ИЭОПП СО РАН. В некоторых случаях привлекались данные опроса участников международной летней школы молодых ученых «Интеграция и инновации», проведенного летом 2008 г. (руководитель этих опросов – Е. С. Гвоздева). The objective of the paper – to consider, relying on theoretical idea on the work motivation mechanism and contemporary empirical data: whether motives of work in the sphere of science differ at different groups of youth; whether is great the share of those who actually is not focused on scientific or innovative activity; whether the motivation of research work affects its productivity. As an empirical base we use the data of the All-Russia pool of young researchers conducted in 2003–2004 by the Institute of Economics and Industrial Engineering of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Science (IEIE SB RAS) and the data of the pool of participants of the International summer school of young researchers «Integration and innovations», conducted in Novosibirsk in 2008 (coordinator – E. S. Gvozdeva).
