Abstract: Climate variability is still a key factor in agricultural production in Uttarakhand. Extreme climatic conditions and frequent natural calamities make the returns from agricultural sector highly unpredictable. Moreover, the calamities also impose heavy economic loss to farming households in terms of loss of current income and destruction of capital assets. This paper seeks to estimate the economic losses borne by the people dependent on the primary sector during and after the 2013 Uttarakhand disaster.
