FROM VILLAGE TO SUBURB. DEMOGRAPHIC AND TERRITORIAL CHANGES IN GALICIA, 1990 -

Carlos Ferrás Sexto

Revista Galega de Economía, 2011, vol. 20, issue ex

Abstract: In the context of loss of rural population and demographic general decline that is experiencing Galicia there is perceived a social change that goes from the rural one of the past towards a new suburban future. New rural areas in the periphery of the principal cities arise as pole of demographic vitality. Which is the process? Which the future? Are changes planned? I propose a reflection based on demographic information and bibliographical precedents. Suburban Galicia occupied in the services and in vital decline, towards where can we go? In the present article I present arguments that allow understanding the change.
