William A. Barouski and Margaret M. Beutel

in Research Studies from South East Asian Central Banks (SEACEN) Research and Training Centre

Abstract: This collaborative study reviews the current trend in adopting information technology of the banking industry in the SEACEN countries. It also examines the current supervisory environment and the supervisory risk management. Based on three surveys (Central Bank Supervisory Oversight, Financial Industry Overview, and Institution Survey) conducted by the individual country researchers, the study offers several recommendations to strengthen the supervisory function, in the context of the increasing use of information technology in the banking sector.
