Abstract:
This collaborative project aims to review the existing compiling practices and management of non-debt creating flows namely foreign direct investment (FDI) and foreign portfolio investment (FPI) with a view to improving the monitoring system of the SEACEN member countries. It also aims to recommend useful concepts, tools and measures for effective evaluation and analyses of trends of foreign investment; and to examine the effects of such flows on key macroeconomic variables such as growth, interest rate, exchange rate etc as well as implications on financial stability and monetary policy.
