Abstract:
This article is about the role the frontier had in the founding of the agrarian capitalism in the River Plate. Throughout a sociodemographic, economic and comparative approach, different strategies and personal and familiar itineraries carried out by various sectors of the rural society -especially medium and small sized producers-owners- are analysed, in the frame of the territorial expansion from the north to the south part of Buenos Aires' countryside since the end of the 18th to mid-19th century. This process was one of the factors that contributed to the great economical growth this region had during the period studied, only comparable with some other countries of the American continent.
