Labor Migration to the Czech Republic

Abstract: The reasons for increasing interest in studying the links between migration and economic development are many, but the most important is undoubtedly the rising absolute number of immigrants in economically developed countries, increasing the amount of remittances sent for last 10-15 years and an aging population in developed countries.This article deals with labor migration in the Czech Republic, which greatly affects not only the labor market, but also the development of the country. Although the topic is very broad, which can hardly be described exhaustively due to limited space, the primary objective of the paper is to give a comprehensive view on the selected issue.The secondary objective of the paper is not only in analysis of the consequences that come along with the process of labor migration, but also in the preparation of forecasts which reflect the possible development of labor migration in the future. The paper analyzes the development of immigration to the Czech Republic from 1995 to 2013 and look at the impacts of labor migration on the labor market, which may occur for example in the form of risks of brain drain or demofigureic changes. The important part of the paper is a regression and correlation analysis which demonstrate the influence of the migration on GDP, wages, innovations and tax revenues.
