Abstract:
It is investigated how Swiss consumer- and wholesale prices for gasoline and heating oil react on changes of the corresponding Rotterdam prices, evaluated in Swiss Francs. Monthly data from January 1972 to April 1986 are employed. It is shown that Swiss prices react faster on reductions than on increases of the Rotterdam prices. However, in the long run reductions as well as increases of the Rotterdam prices are totally shifted to the Swiss prices.
