Strukturwirkungen einer europäischen Arbeitsmarktliberalisierung. Simulationsergebnisse mit einem angebotsorientierten Modell

Abstract: Various concepts of immigration policy are analysed with respect to their implications on Swiss real growth and sector shares of value added within a 4-sector-disaggregated neoclassical supply-side oriented General Equilibrium model. Special attention was given to the qualification of domestic and foreign labor. The simulation results suggest that liberalization of the labor market will lead to productivity increases in the magnitude of 2% (within 10 years) with uneven distribution among the various sectors. Sectors depending on an ample supply of low qualified labor will loose shares of value added. Sectors with a large proportion of highly qualified labor show a significant increase both in absolut and relativ terms. Wages for high qualified labor will rise less than in status quo.
