Abstract:
Data on international trade at regional level have gained scarce consideration by the economic profession in Switzerland. In the present study we try to fill this gap and to start the debate on these problems. We limit our analysis to the exports of the industrial sector. The correspondance between the location of the industry indicated in this context and that reported by other economic statistics is examined using location quotients. Subsequently, data are used in a shift and share framework aiming at identifying the main traits of evolution of the individual regions.
