The reality of the monopolistic competition in the Russian banking sector
Sergey R. Moiseev
Journal of Modern Competition, 2007, issue 1, 94-108
Abstract:
The article provides the analysis of the Russian banking market competition through the modern nonratingbased approach to the research. In particular, the author uses the H-statistics model in order to assess the competitive environment of more than 800 banks which account for 98% of the market. Econometric analysis shows that when there are a considerable number of players on the market the Russian banking sector competition is less fierce than in Central and Eastern European countries.
