Abstract: The author comes to the important conclusion, namely, that the international market of functional foods and nutraceuticals is a new growing segment of the global food market, but there is not uniformity in the understanding of market structure and volume. Another fundamental conclusion that follows from the study diagnosed the problems of development, is the inconsistencies of terminology concepts used by different communities of scholars. The paper identified the major geographic points of growth of the market, as well as its most promising points, and the circle of market participants, directly or indirectly interested groups in its field of action.
