Economic modernization as a factor of Russia's competitiveness

Abstract: Technological backlog of the Russian economy from economically developed countries provokes decrease in the key indicators which show level of Russia's economic development, and interferes with strengthening of competitive positions of our country in a system of the international division of labor. The characteristic of innovative activity of the Russian Economy is given in current paper, the main issues of economic modernization as a base of innovative breakthrough are mentioned. Besides, the paper includes an author's attention to a question of the state participation in invest-ment of innovations.
