Energy market liberalization as one of most important ways to improve the competitiveness of domestic economy

Abstract: One of the most important problems that constrain domestic enterprises competitiveness in Russia is a high level of production energy intensity. The level of energy consumption per unit of gross domestic product in Russia is still two or three times higher than in developed countries. It should be noted that at present the issues of energy efficiency is receiving increasing attention. One of the possible problem solutions was the liberalization of electricity and power market, which aimed at the implementation of competitive pricing mechanisms in this market. The article considers the reasons for the high energy intensity of domestic enterprises. Particular attention was paid to identifying the influence of the efficiency of the energy sector on industrial enterprisers’ competitiveness. The impact of electricity and power market liberalization on the various industries enterprisers is defined. The place of the liberalization of electricity and power market in the system of measures aimed to improve the competitiveness of enterprises in different economic spheres is specified.
