Abstract:
It is apparent that the agricultural industry needs to be protected for the sake of future generations. For a long time, a systematic policy could not be established to protect agricultural industry from disasters in Turkey. One of the most hectic insurance types with respect to its application is the agricultural insurances which are established by the insurance premiums paid by farmers facing similar risks and these funds are used for the compensation of the aggrieved farmers’ losses. The Agricultural Insurances Act, numbered 5363 and dated 14.06.2005, is accepted as a major initiative which is similar to the developed countries’ policies. This study emphasizes the applicability of agricultural insurances as compulsory insurance though the regency of this act.
