Abstract:
Canakkale, holding cultural, touristy, and historical wealth, has always been a popular place for tourists. The Tourism Incentive Law effectuated in 1982, enlivened the tourism sector in Canakkale via the provided various economical encouragements, and increased credit facilities for private sector besides enabling the formation of many facilities. While the number of the recorded facilities in Canakkale was 85 in the year of 1082, this number has increased up to 177 in the year 2005. According to the data gathered by the Under secretariat of Treasure; the documents on incentives concerning tourism investment only covers a share of 0.93% over the total investments in Canakkale between the years 1982 and 2006, and this depicts that Canakkale has not achieved the share it deserves in tourism sector. Within these years, the infrastructure of the city, the transportation system attempted to be improved within the frame of Incentive Planning and there was a sufficient progress in educational and environmental policies in Canakkale.
