Abstract: Apart from many economic factors causing public deficit there are also some politic-economic factors. It is expressed that, political and institutional factors are among the important markers of the macroeconomic stability and also increase the likelihood of maintaining strong fiscal policies. Political economy approach in this regard, emphasizes the impact of political and institutional factors on macroeconomic dynamics. This study, aims to explore models related with political economy of fiscal deficit. For this purpose first, the impact of political factors on fiscal deficits are addressed, and then this models are discussed in terms of theoretical models. Finally empirical studies related with these models are given.
