Abstract:
Especially in the 1980’s and 1990’s, Turkey has made a great hospitality investment progress in order to meet the increasing tourism demand. Renovation of the hospitality businesses, which have worn-out through time, is vitally important for maintaining quality standards and competitive strengths. Achieving this depends on obtaining funding sources under appropriate conditions. The aim of this research is, identifying the funding sources used in investments and financing problems of the hospitality businesses operating in Turkey during the period of operation. This study was designed as a qualitative research. In this context It is conducted in-depth interviews through structured questions with managers of large-scale lodging businesses in Marmaris. According to findings of the research, during the period of operation, large-scale lodging businesses have been using following sources; mid-term bank loans, short-term bank loans, leasing, auto (internal) financing, respectively to finance their investments. In general, businesses do not assess the financing conditions as negative. The primary drawback is high costs of funding sources.
