Abstract:
Abstract: We examine the effects of trade diversification in terms of both countries and products on firm performance with a special focus on the differentials between importing and exporting activities. We utilize a rich and recent dataset for Turkish manufacturing firms over the period 2003–2010. Our results suggest that the more diversified are the firms in terms of products and countries the better they perform. Diversication of importing benefit firms more than diversification of exporting. Moreover diversification premia are much higher in terms of country extensive margins with respect to product extensive margins.
