Abstract: In this study, it is used etimological analysis and situation analysis to elimanate the complication between the words of knowledge and information; and to cast light onto the difference between knowledge society and information society. Therefore, in order to determine the Turkey’s situation in terms of knowledge society, data analysis and panel causality test sited for 11 region and the periods for 2003-2013. In the analysis, datas of R&D, patent registrations, utility model registrations, and industrial designs registrations used as the indicator of knowledge society. According to the results of situation analysis and econometric analysis, Turkey is still in the level of information society in terms of the formation and usage of knowledge.
