Abstract:
In order to achieve sustainable growth performance, it is important for countries to be competitive in non-price factors in export markets with the acceleration of globalization and openness, countries aim to increase the sophisticated and technology- intensive exports in order to increase the added value. In this context the purpose of the study to reveal that what are the factors that determine high technology exports and analyze Turkey with these factors by employing a VAR model for the period from 1989 to 2016. The results of impulse response functions show that only the value added in the industry (LNIKD) is statistically significant. High technology export has responded to a decline in value added in the industry with a decrease in the second period. According to the analysis of variance decomposition, the impact of lags of high technology export is decreasing and the contribution of other variables is emerging from the second period.
