Abstract: Abstract Armed conflict is common in most African countries as a result of many problems. This paper uncovered that lack of respect for the rule of law, porous border surveillance, the effects of bush fires, among others, caused and exacerbated armed conflict between non-state and state actors in Nigeria. The conflict has destroyed many lives, affected socioeconomic development, and threatened the existence of the Nigerian state. The chapter concludes that the armed conflict has impacted the country’s national security, socioeconomic activities, as well as affecting its immediate neighbors. Authorities in Nigeria are urged to take responsibility and liaise with the country’s neighbors to ensure the security of lives and property in the state, respect the rule of law and the Constitution, among others to secure Nigeria’s territorial integrity.
