Chapter Chapter 1 in The Fourth Industrial Revolution in Africa, 2023, pp 1-12 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter introduces the book: The Fourth Industrial Revolution in Africa: Exploring the Development Implications of Smart Technologies in Africa. Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) technologies have been observed to have the potential to improve the lives and livelihoods of people across the world. This chapter revisits the various key aspects, key practices, and key discourses associated with the 4IR as part of the introduction to this book. To achieve this, this chapter benefits from the emerging body of literature on the 4IR. This book represents one of the very first edited volumes in which the importance of smart technologies in different fields and sectors is explored. This chapter also introduces the various chapters that make this book.
