Abstract: Abstract The digitization of higher education has changed the academic library environment radically and that means that the talent management strategies are going to be reconsidered in a holistic manner. This paper is based on the research problem of how academic libraries can recruit, train and retain a very skilled workforce that is able to withstand the dynamics of the digital age. As per the extensive literature review and current research results, the paper describes the key digital competencies, examines the existing issues in the field of staff management, and suggests the strategic approaches of sustainable staff talent management in academic libraries. The results indicate that a distinct disconnect between the present staff capacity and the future demand is evident and urgent solutions to the staff development, new employees recruitment trends, and workforce retention strategies are badly required to maintain the objectives of the digital transformation.
