A chapter in Proceedings of the 2026 6th International Conference on Enterprise Management and Economic Development (ICEMED 2026), 2026, pp 244-252 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This study examines how environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance influences innovation in Chinese A-share manufacturing firms (2014–2023) using computational panel regression methods. Results show that improved ESG performance significantly boosts patent applications, particularly inventions, while firm size and profitability positively moderate innovation. The relationship between industry competition and innovation follows an inverted U-shape. The analysis leverages advanced statistical software for data processing and model validation, supporting the integration of ESG strategy into R&D planning for sustainable development.
