Abstract: Abstract Digital transformation as a means of technological change is dramatically transforming the retail business, bringing new technological solutions to the retail industry. Retail companies are obliged to keep up with social habits and modern technological tools or they will be defeated by more efficient sales productivity, lower costs, and faster logistics. This paper focuses on Kroger in the background of the digital transformation of the retail industry, focusing on strategies of the company. It also gives recommendations for its future direction based on reviewing and analysis of the whole development process of the firm. The article discusses the case of Kroger’s digital development, integrating past research, news, and reports, in order to analyze the company’s digital development strategy and emphasize the important nodes and core measures gained by Kroger in the process of digital transformation. This study shows how a large retail company can leverage its strengths to drive digital transformation, which sets a good example for others in the retail industry. Meanwhile, the current shortcomings and possible developing directions of Kroger provide an effective reference for other companies.
