Abstract: Abstract As an Electrical Multiple Axle Rolling Stock (EMR) connecting Kunming, Yunnan Province, China and Vientiane, Laos, the China-Laos Railway is not merely an ordinary transportation channel, more importantly, it represents an important link in the construction of a community with a shared future between China and Laos. Since the railway was put into service, it has significantly enhanced the level of regional connectivity and promoted the rapid development of tourism cooperation between the two nations. However, tourism cooperation centering on this railway still faces several challenges, including uncompetitive tour routes, underdeveloped tourism resources, and inadequate tourism service system. To this end, efforts like vigorously exploring and promoting the tourism routes and products between China and Laos, training international tourism personnel, and innovating international tourism cooperation models are of great significance for leveraging the transportation advantages of the China-Laos Railway and strengthening international tourism cooperation between China and Southeast Asian countries. This paper examines the current status of tourism cooperation along the China-Laos Railway by taking into account the actual situation of tourism development after the railway was open to traffic, providing a reference for cross-border tourism governance under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
