Abstract:
Abstract Since the late 1970s, inequality has been on the rise in a number of OECD countries. Many factors enter into the determination of income inequality: low-paid jobs, new flexible ‘non-standard’ patterns of employment, and unemployment. These factors play an important role in determining household poverty because they are only partially counteracted by the various government transfer programmes and social policies.
