Chapter Chapter 1 in Western Multinational Corporations in Latin America, 2022, pp 1-5 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter introduces the core issue at hand in the context of MNCs in Latin America and makes a strong case for rethinking the concept of development and, coherently, the way in which developmental impact of MNCs is understood. Subsequently, this chapter carves out how and by which means this book aims at contributing to the scholarly debate. As such, both this study’s theoretical development of the new framework Conflating Capitalisms and the empirical large-scale quantitative and qualitative study are outlined in brief and major findings are anticipated. This chapter concludes with an indication of the structure of the book.
