Chapter Chapter 11 in Economic Development and the Environmental Ecosystem, 2023, pp 127-139 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract The world’s reliance on energy is growing. It is clear that the world’s economic growth approach from the Industrial Revolution to the present is no longer sustainable. The fact that the energy required in manufacturing processes is heavily reliant on non-renewable resources such as coal or natural gas, as well as the environmental damage caused by greenhouse gases generated as a result of the usage of fossil resources, makes economic progress difficult to sustain. Renewable energy resources reduce dependency on other countries in energy production, increase energy security, help increase energy efficiency, reduce air pollution, reduce carbon emissions and fuel leakage risk. Renewable energy also helps to protect the country’s natural resources and eco-system. It affects the sustainability of the entire economy, from job creation to resource efficiency. In this context, businesses can demonstrate their commitment to social responsibility by using renewable energy resources or by showing their support to these resources and the adoption/use of renewable energy should be a crucial part of their corporate social responsibility strategies.
