Abstract:
Abstract The development of China’s digital trade can be divided into three stages: policy-driven, technology-integrated, and high-quality development. Since China introduced cross-border e-commerce support policies in 2013, digitally ordered trade (with cross-border e-commerce at its core) has rapidly emerged. Its trade volume reached 2.4 trillion yuan in 2023, with an average annual growth rate of 15.3%. In terms of policies, the comprehensive pilot zones for cross-border e-commerce expanded from 1 in 2015 to 165 in 2023, covering major first and second-tier cities. The “single window” management model has enhanced trade facilitation. Meanwhile, digitally delivered trade (such as information and communication technology services) made remarkable progress during the “14th Five-Year Plan” period. The scale of digitally deliverable service trade increased from 200 billion U.S. dollars in 2015 to 294.76 billion U.S. dollars in 2020, accounting for 44.5% of service trade.
