Chapter Chapter 2 in Demystifying the World Economic Development, 2024, pp 13-69 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract The Scholars by Wu Jingzi during the Qing dynasty is the pinnacle of ancient Chinese satirical novels. In Chapter 46, there is a sentence that reads, “Mr. Yu, ‘every dog has its day.’ I saw with my own eyes the immense power wielded by each of your respective families three decades ago.” Later, “every dog has its day” becomes a saying used to describe the ups and downs of life and the vicissitudes of history.
