Circular Procurement in Global Supply Chains
Chiara Bernd ()
A chapter in Circular Economy in Sustainable Supply Chains, 2024, pp 151-179 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Procurement is playing an increasingly important role not only in the sustainable transformation of companies but also in the context of global supply chains. Nevertheless, many companies continue to focus on the principle of efficiency and thus pursue a linear business model. This chapter aims to show how circular procurement can contribute to global supply chains. On the one hand, global supply chains and the role of circular procurement are explained. On the other hand, this chapter focuses on analysing the importance of procurement and the significance of the circular economy for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), taking into account the 7R model. The combination of these two approaches intends to concretise the potential contribution of procurement to promoting circularity.
