A chapter in Deprivation, Inequality and Polarization, 2019, pp 147-160 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract A general measure of inequality which, in the limit, converges to the Theil measure is developed, based on the Generalized Entropy of Degree $$\alpha $$ α (Aczel and Daroczy 1975). The properties of the measure are discussed with an empirical illustration using Indian Consumer Expenditure Survey data.
