A chapter in Managing Work in the Digital Economy, 2021, pp 139-155 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract In 2030, the old dichotomy between management and leadership will appear to us in a completely and radically new light. Management is basically routine work. Therefore, it can be treated like accounting or management control automated and done by machines. In contrast, leadership is, to a high degree, nonroutine, creative, and people-interactive work. In fact, leadership in our new understanding is about cocreating the future. In this chapter, we will describe the five most profound challenges and changes of leadership, the new leadership priorities, and the new roles leaders have to enact in 2030.
