A chapter in Tech Transformation and AI Readiness, 2025, pp 39-59 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This study seeks to perform AI-readiness situation assessment for the countries in the Global South. By navigating through the theoretical and empirical evidence, the work sheds light on the groundwork and the current state of these economies in preparation for the unfolding new wave of machine intelligence. Here, we explored data availability, data protection policies, and data governance and further investigated infrastructural capabilities to support AI technologies. We also navigated through implementation success stories from selected countries in the region. This work will provide a comprehensive and detailed analysis of the challenges and opportunities associated with the adoption of AI in the context of the South.
