A chapter in Tomorrow's Data Empowered Project Management, 2025, pp 123-146 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter discusses the role and importance of stakeholder management and engagement in a complex innovation ecosystem from multiple theoretical and practical perspectives. The contribution theorizes on the connections between stakeholder engagement and project managers in the digital era, offers novel concepts to broaden the discussion, and raises critical questions. We extend current stakeholder engagement models from static to active engagement, particularly for high-impact innovation projects. We discuss five central ideas of the construct of the stakeholder engagement pathway in complex innovation ecosystems, showcased through a real case study based on the “Open to Innovate Manifesto”.
