A chapter in Mastering CommTech, 2025, pp 21-40 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract In 2019, Page (formerly known as the Arthur W. Page Society) published the widely acclaimed study The CCO as Pacesetter. The study took a comprehensive look at the changing demands on chief communications officers, particularly from the perspective of CEOs. Digitalisation was and is high on the agenda. Not surprisingly, then, the impact of digitalisation on the communications profession and the opportunities it presents were a major theme of the report. It was in this context that the term CommTech and the descriptions of an organisation’s maturity level from professional to pathfinder to pacesetter emerged. The study was conducted by a Research Working Group chaired by Jon Iwata. Courtesy of the Page, we reprint the still highly topical CommTech chapters from the CCO as Pacesetter study with minor adjustments in this book. Thomas Mickeleit is responsible for compiling the content of this chapter.
