A chapter in Mastering CommTech, 2025, pp 103-114 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter explores the transformative role of CommTech (Communication Technology) in professionalizing corporate communications by utilizing data-driven insights across the stakeholder journey. By mapping out touchpoints and individualizing communication, CommTech enables a deeper understanding of stakeholder behaviors, allowing organizations to enhance communication effectiveness. Through systematic data collection and analysis, communication departments can measure impact at each stage—from initial awareness to advocacy—thus optimizing stakeholder engagement. Current practices, however, reveal a gap between the strategic vision of CommTech and practical implementation, as many communication professionals lack the necessary tools for effective media analysis and impact measurement. Leading examples of CommTech adoption show promising improvements in efficiency, productivity, and cost savings, motivating other departments to invest in data-driven communication models. Emerging AI technologies are becoming critical, enabling real-time analysis and integration of insights across organizational functions. This chapter positions CommTech as a pivotal tool for corporate communicators, aligning communication strategies with business outcomes and offering a roadmap for future advancements in the field.
