A chapter in Resilient Business Models, 2025, pp 393-398 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This section introduces a comprehensive conceptual meta-model derived from the comparative analysis of 18 real-world business case studies. The model captures the dynamic and systemic nature of resilient business models by identifying six interrelated strategic dimensions: sustainability and circularity, technology and innovation, digital transformation and marketing, entrepreneurship and strategic adaptation, value creation through ecosystems, and social impact with community engagement. Rather than offering a static framework, the model provides an integrated structure for understanding how contemporary organisations can respond proactively to environmental complexity, uncertainty, and systemic disruption. Managerial implications are extensive. The meta-model functions both as a diagnostic and prescriptive tool, enabling decision-makers to assess existing business configurations and guide transformation processes. It encourages managers to shift from linear planning approaches towards adaptive systems thinking and to cultivate organisational cultures focused on innovation, customer value, and ethical responsibility. By embedding resilience into core operations, the meta-model promotes a transition from fragmented initiatives to cohesive, purpose-driven strategies. It bridges theory and managerial practice, offering a scalable framework that enhances a firm’s capacity to thrive under volatile conditions, reconfigure its strategic positioning, and drive long-term competitive advantage. In this regard, the model constitutes a pragmatic and theory-informed contribution to the discourse on business model innovation, capable of guiding executive action and academic inquiry alike.
