Chapter 4 in Leading Innovation, 2026, pp 111-145 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter first explains practical perspectives on dealing with freedom in leadership relationships. Second, these views are discussed and reflected upon theoretically. Third, we propose a model for classifying innovative freedom—the ‘freedom triangle’. Fourth, practical examples are presented to illustrate the different types of freedom. Fifth, the findings are summarised in a conclusion and reflective questions are presented in the form of a ‘freedom audit’ for innovation-orientated companies.
