Chapter Chapter 1 in Managing Science, 2011, pp 1-19 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Science is complicated because the idea includes “method” (philosophy of science), “organization” (sociology of science), “events” (history of science), and “funding” (politics of science). What we will do is integrate these different aspects of the idea of science into a complete description of scientific research – a totality of science. And we will use an odd term for this integration; we will call it “managing science.”
