Abstract:
Abstract Natural capital and sustainability encounter a double whammy. One of them is that the neoclassical economic models do not treat natural resources beyond the market forces. At the same time, protection provided for economic capital beyond the market forces is not available to the natural capital. As a result, the planet cannot be resilient to the distortions caused by anthropogenic developmental activities. Hence, the prudential anthropocentric view is accepted and respected by human values infusion. Consequently, knowledge-based economies (KBEs), two universal programs, 2030 agenda for 17 SDGs and Paris Climate Agreement, nine ecological boundaries, and doughnut economics invoke to produce human capital blended with natural capital. In this regard, the Quintuple Helix innovation model is the most appropriate. Nevertheless, the conventional structure of universities cannot effectively embrace the Quintuple Helix innovation model. Hence, this chapter clarifies the problem associated with producing green knowledge and innovation at universities. Further, the chapter finds a way of resolving the issue.
